Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
Thank you for continued prayers! What a blessings you are to us!

We want to share the following scripture passages with you:

“Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure,
your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely.
Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.” – James 1:2-4

“I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime.
Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine.
When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.
You never saw him, yet you love him. You still don’t see him, yet you trust him—with laughter and singing.
Because you kept on believing, you’ll get what you’re looking forward to: total salvation.” – 1 Peter 1:6-9

We are at a crossroads – a place of decision making, discernment, prayer, and waiting. We ask for your prayers today:

– Because a return to Guinea is not in the immediate future for us, and because our missionary colleagues needed a place to live and were having a hard time finding a new house to rent, our colleagues have moved into our house. We gifted the contents of our house to people who can use them. We officially shared with our friends there that we would not be returning, at least not at this time. Pray for us as we process this decision and what it means. Pray also that our house will be a blessing to our colleagues and that the physical possessions we were able to share with others would be a blessing to them.

– We need to sell our Land Cruiser in Guinea, who we affectionately named “Rhoda”, before the end of March. We had a buyer, but he changed his mind. Please pray that a new buyer will come forward quickly.

– After a 3-month unpaid Leave of Absence, Cathy must resign her position at the end of January. Please pray for her as she seeks the Lord’s direction for her future.

– Jack continues to be on a medical disability through our insurance company. His benefit may be reduced at the end of January – as we await a decision on that we thank God for his provision thus far and trust in his provision for the future.

– Jack will be seen at the Mayo Clinic’s Movement Disorders clinics in the coming week/weeks. Please pray for the physicians and
other medical staff, that they may fine tune his diagnosis and provide some treatment options.

“But I’m not abandoned. The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” – John 16:33
