Jack & Cathy CARLOS Update

Hello from VERY cold River Falls, Wisconsin! Christmas & New Year’s greetings to all of you!
We wanted to update you about our situation and share some other news.

– Some of you might remember that two short-term missionaries (Chara & Rachel) had planned to join us in Siguiri, Guinea to teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Since we are not there, they have been re-deployed, one to Kenya and one to Ghana. Chara has already left and Rachel will be leaving soon. We thank God for their willingness to go and ask that you all join us in praying for them as they serve.

– Our children, Raymond & Hannah have been gracious hosts to us, as we have been staying with them in River Falls, WI where they attend University. It has been a blessing to be close to them during these last several months of seeking answers for Jack’s treatment. Raymond will soon begin his last semester of classes soon, as he will graduate in May.

– Cathy is entering her last month of an unpaid leave of absence from her position as medical missionary to Guinea. Please pray for her as she seeks the Lord’s guidance about her future.

– Jack is still on a short-term medical disability through our health insurance and has undergone much testing and seen many physicians. We would love to say that things go quickly and we are able to get appointments easily and without delay – but that is not the case. There has been much waiting to get in to see the necessary doctors. The results of a recent scan showed some unexpected results and so, he will be seen the week of January 21 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. For now, any surgery has been removed as an option for Jack. Please pray for us and for the doctors, that they may finally give us some definitive answers, diagnoses, and treatment options.

– Please pray also for the Maninka people of Guinea, whom we have been privileged to serve and miss a great deal.

Trusting in Him,

Jack & Cathy Carlos
